We are going away over the Easter Weekend and this will be the first time that George & Maia have been in kennels since we got them last October, we are not looking forward to leaving them!!
We are putting them into Rachel & Eddie's expert hands, this is where they spent several months before they came to us. Just wanted some advice - what should we take down to the kennels (bedding, toys, leads, coats etc etc)....
Plus, does anyone have any tips on how to leave your dogs without being hysterical???
Not sure about Rachel's and Eddies on what you need to take but I would imagine their bedding is important - familiar smell etc. You can always shove in a t-shirt that you've worn.
It might sound harsh but i would just put them in and then walk away. If you fuss over them they will know something is up and then panic. If you look back you will just make yourself feel bad too. At least you know they are in safe hands and will be well looked after.

firstly, speak to rachel and eddie about what you should take for the babies.
secondly, i agree with jennifer.......leave them and walk away. after all, you are going back for them. don't fret or they'll pick up on that. do enjoy your weekend away too, the babies will be fine.
The first time I put my two in kennels I was almost thrown out by the kennel staff - they ended up saying "look you just need to go". I was hysterical, felt really bad but went back to collect them and they were absolutely fine infact they were out on a walk when I came to get them all full of fun and bouncy.
One other hint, don't give them a special treat dinner when they get home.... I did and then spent the ret of the night cleaning off the floor, the excitement of coming home as well as rich food did not mix well!!
I don't know Rachael and Eddie but I'm assuming they're grey owners and foster some GAL dogs?
Just drop them off and go! I worked in a cattery last summer and almost said to the crying (honestly!) owner. "Well, don't go then, just cancel your holiday and take them back!"
However, it was a completely different story a few months later when I had to put my own three in same cattery after I flooded my house! Think my former colleagues were ready to strangle me!!
Honestly, they will be fine. You're lucky they are going into these kennels. They sound great.
I'm trying to find out about kennels for Molly for the first time and quite anxious as I'm sure we all are the first time (!) I don't know Rachel and Eddie but I'd love to get in touch with them and anyone else people would recommend. I'm based in Glasgow and Edinburgh so anywhere Central Belt or within commute of either Glasgow or Edinburgh is absolutely fine.
We left Biscuit for the first time in May, and used the Pet Hotel in Kirkintilloch, after reading recommendations on this site. It's quite hard to get booked in as Carole only takes small numbers and dogs live in the conservatory at the back of the house.
All the details are in the forum section marked helpful information - boarding kennels and alternatives.
For those that think Biscuit is so cute and they would forgive him anything - he disgraced himself by locating and chewing up Carole's bank card !!!! I was so mortified.
