Sorry, folks, you must be getting sick of my posts about Harry and Pearly and their burgeoning relationship!

I've posted before about that sniffing each other more, and Harry licking Pearly. We noticed recently that Harry's licking occurs most when she is being cuddled by Steve. It goes like this....

Steve is sitting on the floor, and Pearly is standing up and cuddling into his neck. Harry comes along and tries to barge his way in, but Steve doesn't let him. So Harry sniffs along Pearly's ears, sniffs at her bits, then licks her on her side near her rump, or on top of her rump itself. Not constant licking, more it's two or three or four quick slurps.

I think my head will explode if I don't find out what it all meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeans!!! Hay-ULP!!

maybe Viv might be able to recommend a really good book for you Fiona so you read up on their behaviour to your hearts content??

Suz - you name the book, I've got it! But there's nothing as specific as this new behaviour. Maybe it's destined to stay as a mystery.

Just a thought - am no animal behaviouralist or anything- but maybe it's a possession thing.  Maybe Harry thinks that Pearly's his girl and sees Steve as a slight threat.  The fact that he does it when Steve is making a fuss of Pearly maybe he's jealous of the attention that Steve is giving her and is trying to tell Steve she's his girl!
