Due to there being 6 greys and 4 lurchers currently in at Bothwell I thought an Awareness Day on Sat 15th April would be a good idea.
In my usual 'Bull in a China Shop' fashion I organized this without consulting Dave or Carol (apologies made) but spoke to the regulars at Bothwell who agreed that something needed to be done.
Alfie and Sammy (two of the original 17 greyhounds taken from the trainer back in November) are needing moved asap.
Fergus a young and nervous lurcher who Charles has been working particularly hard with is the longest of the 'welfare' hounds and along with another young fawn lurcher bitch is becoming increasingly stressed in the kennels.
Therefore I have two requests to make:
If anyone could collect the info boards from Esther and bring them along to Bothwell or even meet Esther somewhere to collect the info boards and bring them along to Bothwell could you please me email me denise@gal.org.uk Thanks.
Also a couple of volunteers to hold/walk dogs would be much appreciated, particularly any of you out there who are au fait with the ways of the SSPCA. Thanks.
I'm not sure how busy the GAD will be given that it's Easter weekend but I know Linda and Joyce have been busy putting up posters and spreading the word.
Quite a busy day at Bothwell today. Lots of people looking at the greyhounds.
Great news is that 2 were rehomed today!!!
Babe and Sammy. Babe (age 6 i think) went home with a wee Jack Russell and a lovely couple, and Sammy went home in a shiny silver Mercedes with a lovely family. They both definitely landed on their feet.
Only 1 of the original 17 left now (Alfie) but we think Sammy's new owners will be back to see him pretty soon.
Thats good 2 dogs got a home today, hope they settle in fine. I rehomed my favourite lurcher at my work today, "Shaun" the wee grey and white male i posted pics of playing with Millie. He went to a nice couple. Hope he stays away.
Its so satifying when you see dogs you love go to good homes

Just wanted to thank all the volunteers at Bothwell today, we had a really good day. It's such a brilliant feeling to see greys going to their new home.
Lucky Babe and Sammy, both adopted by very nice people who went off totally delighted with their new pets.
We've got our fingers crossed that once Sammy settles in his new family will come back and adopt his best buddy Alfie.
Charles and Jenny will be back tomorrow to work on helping the rest of the hounds find a home. Good luck guys!
Well done to all the volunteers at Bothwell on Saturday! We couldn't manage to be there ourselves. It's marvellous that Babe and Sammy got new homes and hope that Sammy's family come back to adopt Alfie too!
Jennifer - delighted that little Shaun got his new home! I must say I was soooo tempted to apply for him myself, he's so handsome. Is Millie missing him yet?
A great big WELL DONE to all concerned at Bothwell on Saturday. I am only sorry that I was not there to see the lucky hounds go to their new homes. I did keep in touch with Charles and Linda by text and was so chuffed to get the news of their good fortune.
Hope the last remaining "Alfie" is out of jail soon.
