Maverick came to stay with us last Friday, after the usual sniff test around the house he decided to take up residence on the couch where he slept all night wihout any "adventures" till he got up for his breakfast . One small territory mark incident in the morning where, if the seat had been up would have been an admirable bit of house training.
Linlithgow Palace on Saturday was excellent ,he is superb on the lead and does not seem bothered by the small white fluffy fraternity running around . He s a very handsome young man and had quite a few admirers. Home straight on the couch no problems all night, I woke in the morning with a big black nose level with mine on the pillow so stairs arent a problem.
Strathclyde Park on Sunday he had a good walk but didn't manage all the way round getting a bit tired, he socialises very well .
So far he has been excellent , loves lying on the grass and is picking up key commands very quickly.
Nimbus came to stay today and he s had no problem showing his new "bird" around.
When we fostered him last year, we managed to teach him to use stairs and house trained him - glad he's not forgotten how to be a good boy!!!
He is very sociable with other dogs though a little aggressive to un-neutered male dogs (that was last year just after his op so might be fine now). We found that he settled better around humans over night. Mind you when left at home alone for anytime he ate his plastic food bowl and howled a bit.
He also copied Missy by pinching the sofa. He even got very cheaky and started to pinch the sun loungers in the back garden also.
Be careful he can jump stair gates VERY easily. He did this once when the kids were leaving the house.... they shut the gate as normal before opening the front door but without any prompting or notice he just lept the gate and was straight out the front door. Thankfully his recall is quite good so we managed to get him back without any fuss.
Would like to meet Mav again sometime soon.
If you would like any more info on Mav when we fostered him then please get in touch.
These are super pictures of the very handsome Maverick! He looks as if he's enjoying home life once more - he really deserves it. And I admire you for taking on Nimbus too. How are they getting on together?
The kids have been superb, We have called Nimbus "Cory" I wasn'y sure whether it was our place to change her name as she is fostered but she was responding to it which is always good when doing commands. She is a wee Princess a lovely lady who knows she is gorgeous , shes always looking at her reflection in the bedroom mirror , thecooker or any window she can find. The two of them are a delight to walk on the lead, we were at Mugdoch Park today and the two of them were excellent, even when an un-leashed small yapper was around there legs they didn't flinch .
