I'll say even more....she's young, cute, adorable, small, can be left with another dog, likes all animals big and small (this includes, rats, cats, horses and dogs of any size!!) is house trained, loves kids, can give a paw, will fetch a ball and is as good as gold on lead..

I'll go and wait with baited breath by my phone now...(which is 0870 888 7277 to save you looking it up)..

Mmmm...

I came very close to rehoming a second Greyhound just a few weeks back when I heard one of Billy's sisters had been found dumped after being used for breeding and on flapper tracks, the only thing that stopped me then is the same thing that's stopping me diving right in now... I'd be worried the dogs didn't get on, and I would be sick when it came to leaving them alone. Billy is normally fine with other dogs, but he is such a coward if another dog goes in about to him when he is cornered, he gets growly, and I would hate for something bad to happen...

Whereabouts in the world is Rosie right now? Is it somewhere I could meet her on a walk at all to see how she would get on with Billy?

I think you should adopt another. Most greyhound males will get on fine with a bitch as a companion (even my grumpy old man Oscar likes his ladies!!). They are often kennelled in pairs in racing kennels, a dog and a bitch together. It can be a wee bit nervewracking leaving them alone together at first, but you could always separate them with a baby-gate or muzzle initially, if you were really worried. I haven't fostered as many as lots of people, but of the several fosters I had it was only one (the first one!) that didn't get on with the other dogs in the house  - and that was mostly a bitch-bitch territorial problem. If I was unsure at all, I muzzled all of them for the first few times I went out and sat in my car outside listening...Most of them like having a companion

I am very tempted, and it would be nice to have a dog for Billy to play with - 3 of our daily walks are just me and him, and he seems to be under the illusion that I can run as fast as a Greyhound, and keeps trying to get me to run with him!!!

Also, Billy does enjoy himself a lot better with other dogs around. He had a fantastic time tonight with my sister's lab-cross (the undisputed Alpha dog of the group).

It's funny you say your problem was bitch-bitch, I have often found two bitches to be more snippy than two dogs if kept in close quarters!

Bless her, she's just a baby. Though I thought that she actually looked a lot older than just 1-year old in that piccie.

Lucretia, our Harry loves his housemate Pearly. She's still a bit unsure of him, but that's cos she's inclined to be oversensitive. He would dearly love her to play with him more. Two really aren't any more trouble than one, especially given that your routine with Billy will already be established.

Not that we're trying to force your hand or anything.......

(If I weren't confined to just two then I'd be on the phone to Dave on that mobile number that he so handily quoted!).
