Can you believe it ?? One year ago (well technically its on Wednesday 15th June) I brought home a wee nervous bundle of nerves who was scared of her own shadow, she wet herself if there was any loud noises or sudden movements. She even wet herself one day when I took out a kitchen knife to cut open some packaging.
It broke my heart. But now she just melts my heart as Maisie has turned into such a beautiful little lady. She can be full of mischief at times and loves nothing more than creeping up on Murphy in the garden or ambushing him from behind sand dunes & leaping on him at speed & then legging it away in the hope he will give chase! Its hysterical to watch! They are the perfect companions for each other. SO well matched its scary.
She loves to curl up as close to me on the sofa at every given opportunity. She can hear my car pull into the road & is always at the window before Ive even turned the engine off. She is a very fast learner & has picked up tricks off Murphy & can now sit & do the leave it command every single time - even when faced with a plate of sausages!.
I love the way she trots with such elegence - almost like a dressage horse. I love the way she sleeps with her paws covering her eyes if the room is too bright. I love the way she sits bolt up right next to me on the sofa, staring at me & paws my shoulder if i ignore her + when I turn to see her I always get a licky kiss & she rolls over for a tummy tickle. I love the way she chews my head with delight when Im blowing raspberries on her tummy. I love the way she stands in the waiting room at the vets patiently & quietly but with her head tucked under my jacket for safe measures. I love the way she leaps 6ft in the air to try & catch the ball before it even leaves my hand. I love the way she is so trusting of me that she is now following me into the sea up to her belly - a year ago she wouldnt come within 10 feet of it. I love the way she makes a ridiculously loud noise every time she yawns. I love the fact that she now sleeps with a smile on her face - that always puts a smile on MY face....I love the fact that her tail wags from the minute she is awake til the minute she goes to sleep. I love the fact that when she dreams now they sound like happy dreams, tail wags, happy noises etc...in the 1st few months they looked more like nightmares.AND FINALLY...i love being her mum!
Happy Gottcha day little girl. You really are my little angel. I love you now & forever more
week one - looking rather scunnered by everything...

HAPPY 1ST GOTCHA DAY MAISIE!!!!!!!! Suzanne - you really have done an amazing job with maisie - the difference in her is incredible. You must be so proud. Here's to many more gotcha days together with you and Murphy!
A VERY HAPPY FIRST GOTCHA DAY TO MAISIE XXXX I have just sat in tears reading your tale of Maisie and about how she was to how she is now. You have gained her love and trust and this shows every time, Maisie to me is the luckiest dog alive to have survived what she went through and to end up in a home where she will no longer have to fear what life throws at her, to have a companion in Murphy to whom she is devoted and too you Suzanne who will protect her with every bone in your body for the rest of her life. Happy 1st Gotcha Day, Maisie, you gorgeous little poppet, you. Here's to many, many more years of devotion from your loving mum. It's wonderful to see how much progress you've made over the past year. Just you keep on enjoying yourself and having fun, and letting your mum take such good care of you.
Suzanne, you really have turned her into the most beautiful girl. I love her cute puppy-dog ears Chad has those too and he prances along just like a dressage horse too. Usually showing off to a poor dog on the other side of the field. I call it his 'look at me, arn't I gorgeous pose!'
You are so very lucky to have each other and you clearly love each other big time
Hope you have many many happy years together. It's amazing how quickly they settle into a loving home - it's like they've been there forever isn't it?....
You're little note about Maisie made me go all goose pimply! I know exactly where you are coming from (as I guess many more of the forum will too).
