Can't wait to see the photos and with the amount of folk asking for applications and information at the info desk, it is no surprise Dave has went home with quite a few apps.
We had an absolutely FAB day, spent loads of money and wasn't the weather just SO kind to everyone. Missy didn't managed to win Gala Queen 2006 but at least she was in the running !
Thanks to everyone who organised the event - Give yourselves a HUGE pat on the backs.
Congratulations to all the winners. But at the end of the day all the dogs there are winners !!!
All our dogs are now snoozing hard - completely exhausted - like us humans but we didn't get to the sofa first !!!
I definately agree with that sentiment! I always want to go away with another greyhound or lurcher! There are just so many candidates.
I love the picture of Louie - he's so sweet. I was lucky enough to get a quick pat of him today and think he's great. I also fell for Brodie and Banjo. Brodie was fab - I had a lovely cuddle of him. I'd have taken any of the three of them home in a second!
It was a great day and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is certainly good for the greyhound image when people see that they are so laid back and quiet when there are lots of other dogs about. I hope that every single one of the applications that were received today work out and that they turn into forever homes.
It certainly is great news about there being lots of money after today's event and even better that there were lots of applications too! Well done all.
A big well done to everyone for organising such a fantastic day
All dogs were on their best behaviour and it was lovely recognising so many of them from their pics on the forum. The homeless hounds were absolute stars and i'm thrilled so many applications came in. Can't wait to see more pics and the winners, although as a previous post said every single dog was a winner today.
Lovely weather, lovely people and gorgeous dogs, what more could you want from a day out? Oh apart from loads of money and even more applications to adopt.
Hi Folk's well money all counted, we made a tad under £3,000 yesterday which is a bloomin great effort all round, special thanks again to all the volunteers who manned the GAL stalls and also an even bigger thanks to all the other stall holders who donated their takings to GAL....

Three piccies of homeless Blue Boy - his first outing yesterday at a big event (he's currently still with his trainer) He was the most popular homeless dog and I've got about 19 famlies wanting to adopt him now!
Great day!! It was soo busy and the dogs were very well behaved! 3 grand thats amazing!! Congratulations to whoever baked the carrot cake on the home baking stall it was delicious! Hope all the homeless hounds get good homes! My dad has loads of pictures- I'll get some posted as soon as he uploads them!
We had great weather, and lots of people and dogs. Lets hope that many of the homeless hounds find good homes as a result of all the interest yesterday. I am still tired today and quite happy not to see a bag of flour for a long time after the bakeathon on Saturday!
Wow three grand that's excellent news!! I knew it would be good, there was a great turn out of people, not just 'greyhound people'. Dave, is the money for Kennel Fund or general day to day GAL running costs like kennels etc?
That's fantastic news!! We all had a fantastic time yesterday, it was great seeing so many happy and contented greyhounds and lurchers (and other dogs) getting on. Tilly enjoyed herself too - infact is still exhausted! Well done to all the organisers and here's hoping lots of homeless hounds find their forever homes.
Fantastic amount raised and a great day. Not surprised there was so much interest in Blue Boy, he really is a beauty and so well behaved, if he was female it would have been twenty applications to adopt him...mine included!!
I didn't get much chance to take photo's but here's one of Sally, who i have to say has the softest coat i've ever cuddled
That was a great day, well done to the organisers!!! We also can't wait to find out who was the King and Queen, had to leave just before the end as our two were exhausted. Here's the evidence, them lying out in the garden later on yesterday...
Fraid not Laura, it cost us exactly £431 to put on the show what with the hire of the park, trophies, van hire, hire of chairs and tables, insurance, risk assessment and a number of other fairly tedious but necessary things....
£2600 is still a pretty impressive amount! Well done again everyone! Whens the next event- ie how long do I have to wait for another one of Linda's delicious carrot cakes??
Has anyone else got any piccies from the GALa??...Particularly looking for ones featuring a young fawn coloured Bull Mastiff?...let me know if you have!
It was a really super day at Strathclyde Park on Sunday. And so worthwhile, judging by the magnificent sum raised. A big Thanks goes to all who organised it.
The photos are all superb and congratulations to the new king and queen! Thanks for posting the photo of Vegas and Dixie, Claire. What a great shot!
