The new homeless houndies, they are all just adorable - there is Glen, Jade, youngster Millie (what a sweetie), and let's not forget Morgan, handsome or what?
Who have you got a soft spot for and why? and not just out of the new ones.
I Love all the dogs but I have a real soft spot for Tara (the 8yr old one). Not sure why partly because I like the oldies and partly because she is just beautiful.
I agree they are all gorgeous but Millie is probably my favourite. I never wanted a black dog but Neo has changed my mind and now i love every one that i see. Millie looks just like a younger version of him except he has a touch more white on his chest.
I hope they all find really special forever homes soon.
I would find it terribly difficult to pick a favourite. I love Jacky to bits - he's stunning. I also spoke to a number of them at the Hot Dog Show on Saturday and fell in love with far too many of them. Bandit, Banjo, Barney, Bert, Brodie and that beautiful bridle boy who was re-homed (lucky people). They were all so sweet, craving attention and loving every minute of it. Graeme was mortified and I'm quite convinced that he thought there was going to be a massive campaign to bring another one home. Next time I rehome a dog, it will be a black one (I think anyway).
There is one other that I have to mention and that is Bruno. My heart just goes out to him when I look at that sad wee face in the photo. He just looks so wistful and lost that I just want to give him a massive hug and tell him everything is going to be fine. I'd have any of them in a second (given even a half a chance).
There will be more web updates in the next few days, big thanks to Claire for taking some brilliant piccies of some of the newer arrivals at the kennels after the show last weekend. For a sneak preview go check out the GAL page on http://www.bgrd.co.uk/ the new piccs look fab, my favourites are Louie (Filling Form) & Bogart (Worldwide Rumble)....
I so wish I was nearer or at least could drive. We have already discussed what will happen when we lose poor Tig. I know that I will want another because I like two in the house, they are company for one another and I do work for four hours on a couple of days so they need each other then.Kevin is determined that we are just having Chad and no more because down here you can only get them at age four or five and this is too old because they get ill at 9 or 10 and die. This means you only get four or five years between bereavements which is too quick. He cannot go through the upset again and wants a young dog under 2.
I know we are going to argue about this very subject as I think the pain is easier to cope with if you have a remaining dog in the house to cuddle. My way of coping with the loss is to walk miles - not much fun on your own without a hound! The first time we lost one I was hit particularly hard as I was in the house more and felt the empty space acutely.
Me, when the time is right I would take any one of them but I do have a soft spot for the black ones like our Charlie used to be (handsome chap) but on the whole I love them all to bits! Especially the ones who are very pushy and want your attention all the time, I miss being bumped for attention!
It's certainly not the case that you can only adopt a gh from age 4 or 5. Sim was only two and a half when we adopted him, and there are several two and three year olds on the homeless dogs page at the moment.
Perhaps you have been unlucky with their health since it has been your experience that they get ill at age 9 or 10. Their average life span is 12 - 14, and Dave lost one old boy aged 17!
So perhaps you will get your way in the end. Meantime fingers crossed for Tig.

Is the brindle you were talking about Zak?
Here is the picture Dave took of him and Tara at the hot dog show.
We are very lucky and will be picking him up at the start of August to foster him.
I agree with you it is so difficult to choose one.
I like Zak of course, Daisy is just so cute, Jacky - shame he isn't cat safe, Jet and loads more.
I also have a soft spot for Tara the lurcher. I know that Dave says she's not a looker, but I like the odd looking ones. I am at the moment trying to persuade my parents to give her a home.
The dogs on the greyhound data base link (Dave's post) are all beautiful, but i have to have a real soft spot for Candy as her grandad (Droopys Fintan) is my Neo's Dad!!
If she is anything like her uncle then she will make a very lucky family very happy. Can't wait to see her find a comfy couch to call her own.
I get to meet my (hopefully) new arrival next weekend and i've been told Candy looks just like her.
Yep - that's the fella. I spent lots of time cuddling him through the bars and talking to him. He was having a ball. He kept trying to lick my face and hands while I was scratching his ears. What a sweetheart!
I'd love to have Bandit, I always like the cheeky ones. But I've no room, well I could fit another one in the house but not in the car. I hope he finds his forever home soon, someone is going to have such fun with him.......
I can't park the one I've got, hate to think the chaos I'd cause with a bigger one! I thought I'd fit a greyhound and a whippet into the boot of a Megane hatchback no bother, but no - Sherry, the little madam, WILL NOT SHARE, she gets that "I'm going to cry" look on her little face as she presses it up against the dog guard., that's if I can close the boot before she jumps out. So she gets the boot to herself & is miraculously cured of "I hate the car" syndrome, while Sandy stretches out on his car cradle on the back seat. And I have no where to put my luggage, it's amazing how light you can travel when you have two dogs!

Well, my family and i are going away soon and we have a volvo v70, but with a greyhound and a collie in the boot and a wee corgi cross in the passenger footwell theres just about room for the four of us! All our luggage has to go in the top box! And for 10 days away we'll have to travel VERY light!
HAVE YOU SEEN ........ JAMIE??? how beautiful is he?? haha favouratism as its my Millie's brother Dave please give the new owners of him and Jade when they get rehomed my details so we can keep in touch.

Will do Jennifer, Jamie is lovely (as is Jade!) when they are homed that'll be 4 from the same litter all homed by GAL, must arrange a family reunion!
OMG have you seen Blue boy??? He is the spitting image of my Blue right down to the way he is lying. I had to do a double take! All you people who have commented on how rare and georgous the blue greys are now is your chance!!!
you are so right Amanda - Blue boy really is a stunner and having a blue myself (my Zada) and knowing how many comments we get because of her colour I reckon Blue Boy would have long to wait
I wasn't goany post this but then I figured what the heck, time to share. Blue Boy is totally lovely ain't he? You may have seen on his details that he's currently kenneled with his litter sister Tara (who is equally lovely and also looking for a home), Tara went into season 2 week ago and is now pregnant - Blue Boy is the dad. Tara will need a vet visit in the next week or so when her season finishes, it's such a shame and will be a big op for Tara but this is the best course of action I'm sure you'll agree.....another big vet bill for GAL! Hopefully we can get her into a GAL foster home or kennel before the op just to make her a bit more comfortable...sorry I always lower the tone of a nice conversation
People can be so irresponsible! It is a big op but definitely the best option. Inbreeding can through up some undesirable traits nevermind how gal would rehome all the pups! Tight fisted old so and so her trainer must have been not to take her to the vets the minute it happened to get her the injection!! Best of luck to them both and I hope she gets a nice home to recover in!
