How are you keeping your dogs cool in the current heatwave?
We are bathing our dogs every day to help cool them down but I'm considering filling up the kids swimming pool and throwing the dogs in whether or not they like it. I'm also considering buying some vanilla icecream for them but I'm sure that will have an adverse effect on their poops.
Poor old Zak with has baldy chest and butt needs his factor 30 on every day right now as he loves laying in the full sun sweating it out rather than go lay in the shade. Silly pooch !!
Also its a fight to the death just about to be able to get a human on a sun lounger instead of the dogs !! and don't forget the cute factor from the greys as in "you don't REALLY want to turf me off this sun lounger do you ?" look to make you feel guilty about kicking them off.
I found these bench cushions..... they are dead comfortable.... I'm Not here really honest !!!!
Ive just been walking mine at coller times of the day. First thing in the morning at 8am, then i take them for a run down the lagoons about 9pm. Its cooler then but then can aslo go swimming at the lagoons to help cool them off. Im not enjoying the heat Its too hot to be comfortable in.

It's not easy, is it. The babes hate this hot weather - it's too hot to walk them right now. At least they stay indoors and don't lay in the sun !! have tried the wet tea towels but they won't keep them on they want breakfast even less than normal and only just eat their dinner. still, it will get better
Mind you, the next thing will be thunderstorms and dave will be beside himself with terror
We tried a paddling pool but the only purpose it served was as a drinking bowl and a place for Max to fish his ball out of. The watering can worked wonders though!!
I love the photos, especially the third one - what a sun worshipper!
My hounds seem to mind the heat a lot less than I do. I take them out between 7.30 and 9am; by 9 it is already oven-like, but Bonnie still runs and chases like a mad thing. Piper pants on the walks, but then goes and lies in full sun in the middle of the lawn, frying her remaining few brain cells! I 'd like to give them another walk later, but I really can't manage it. Even at 9pm it's still too hot for me after a long day of heat.
Have tried spraying them with the hose to keep them cool, but they think it's punishment. Right now we have my one little electric fan on in the living room, sharing it between two people and one hound (Bonnie is scared of the fan...); and of course all windows, patio doors and back door wide open, so the heat can blast in
Zac is just like Chad, out sun worshipping on the lounger, it must be a blonde dog thing since none of my others have wanted to sun bathe! He is bald too and some of it is where he pulls out his own fur. i think its to do with going out less but you should hear the commotion when Chad gets a walk and Tig cannot go! Talk about howling.
On the other front I am going to get Chad neutered once Tig goes. The cancer in Tigs leg has convinced my other half that losing another grey to any kind of cancer is just not on so prevention is best couse of action. I thought you may remember me seeking your advice re the neutering.
Well I hope you and all your child minding kids and the doggies keep cool! It has been 33 degrees here today (phew) and tomorrow looks even hotter! Poor dogs have a fan and I keep putting wet tea towels on them.

Glad that you are going to get Chad neutered... it is for the best.
Sorry to say its not just a blonde dog thing about laying on the lounger. When we fostered Maverick (black and white) he too sun worshiped ! See ......
SPOT THE SUN LOUNGER!!!
Charlie who we also fostered was very much a floor dog and never wanted to go on the furniture or loungers.... the only going on the furniture he ever did was to pee on it
Well it hit 30`C in my garden today and the temp is set to go higher tomorrow so it will be none stop dog cooling for tomorrow. Hopefully, if the weather forecasters have got it right things should cool down for a few days.... we can only keep our fingers X'd !
Oh and yes this is the picture of Maverick that Rosie painted her picture from.
