Dear Angus. Hope everything turns out to be age related and nothing serious. All large tall breeds are prone to problems in the hund legs as they get older. Lenny turned 11 in July and I've noticed a lot of changes. I've been preparing myself since her turned 10.
Just caught up on Angus, hope that all goes well with the tests and the vet can get to the bottom of his weight loss, you take care and talk soon. Nora

All our fingers, toes and paws are crossed hoping for Angus to gain some weight. Hopefully his weight loss is something simple that can be controlled! Let us know how he's getting on.
Big hugs to Angus and you at this worrying time. Hope the blood screening comes back normal and it is all down to his age, at least then your mind will be at rest. x
Just a quick updat on Angus. He had his blood test done today and most of the results are normal (there or there abouts). The only one that shows a slight abnormality is his calcium levels which, the vet tells me, controls his metabolism. However the calcium test itself doesn't prove much for the vet so Angus has to go in again on monday for another blood test that can get sent away for futher indepth analysis.
I dont really know anything about bloods etc so any information on calcium levels would be very helpful. SO first hurdle over........ fingers crossed.
Well, some good news and a bit more worry! It's never obvious, is it? Just to let you know we're still thinking of you all! Hopefully the reasons for this last result will be treatable or livable with! Fingers crossed and good luck to all!
Angus has his second set of blooods taken this morning. It will be a week or so for the calcium test to come back and 2 weeks or so for thyroid. Waiting is a horrible thing.........
Another udate recieved today. Blood samples are back from the 'calcium experts' and it is confirmed that the levels are low. We are now waiting for the thyroid results because if they are abnormal then that is why the calcium is abnormal, however, of they are normal then the vets says and i quote "Further investigation will be needed" but doesn't say what the investigation will be into. so more waiting
Finally got the results back of Angus thyroid test. The vets says that he is slightly low in one of the tests and has to go on tablets for a month to see if it improves his weight situation.
So good news that he doesn't need anymore test done at the moment and hopefully the solution is quite straight forward!
Great news, Yvonne! Let's hope Angus continues to improve and that he can put on some weight now. What a relief it must be for you, too - you've been worried about him for so long!
Picked up Angus pills yesterday, so heres hoping they make a difference.
Angus and I would like to thank everybody for the messages of support that we have recieved. it is very much appreciated and makes a real difference. Thanks again
