I have also had quite a few things happen with Reiki and am well impressed (but only on human) so would be very interested about the effects of Reiki and dogs (or animals in general)
Thanks everyone, I've passed all your good wishes onto Moppet. Michelle and David.
Unfortunately I can't report back on Moppets response to the Reiki session as Lesley didn't turn up. I'm really annoyed, she didn't even call to say why.
Moppet had an appointment at the Vet School this morning and I'll hear how she got on this evening.
Meanwhile I'm looking for another Reiki practitioner if anybody can recommend one that's happy to do home visits I'd be grateful.
If only you could wait a few months until I've had my Reiki attunements. Once I'm able to practice I'll be looking for business though!!! Human and animal.
Densie, Just read the posting about Moppet. I cannot say how sorry i am to hear of her accident. Any time Jenna and Moppet met they were running about like maniacs and thats the image i always have in my head whenever Moppet is mentioned.
Please give michelle, David and Moppet my best wishes and hope recovery for Moppet is swift.
Michelle and David kissed and cuddled Moppet and held her in their arms as she passed away today.
Advised by the consultant that their was no hope of Moppet ever regaining mobility in her back legs, they both agreed to let her go.
David called tonight to tell me, he was barely able to speak. They are both completely and utterly heartbroken as am I.
For those of you who met Moppet you will know what a beautiful girl she was, greyhound x bearded collie. Smart, cheeky and full of fun, she lived life to the full.
I feel incredilbly lucky to have had her touch my life even if it was for such a short time.
Poor soul - what a tragic thing to have happened. At least now there will be no further heartache watching her go further downhill. Our thoughts are with David and Michelle.
Opal is absolutely gorgeous! I'm sure she'll get snapped up soon!
It does seem a little strange that she hasn't got used to the cat having been socialised and lived with it from a young age, but at the same time, the cat was there first and is probably a very important family member, so if the owners feel the cat is in danger of attack, it's understandable, if they maybe feel that it's just too much of a risk to manage effectively. Just because the dog never raced and was rehomed as a puppy doesn't necessarily mean that it has no 'natural' instinct.
Neither of mine could live with cats and I definitely wouldn't fancy trying to keep them separate and safe - but thankfully I don't have and never will have a cat.
Edited to add: have read rest of this thread and now and would like to offer condolences for Moppet, so tragic when these things happen, best wishes to Denise and Moppet's owners
Hi Laura Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes healing, reduces stress and gives a sense of wellbeing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
I have had it a number of times and it was fantastic. It can be used on everyone including animals and even plants.
