Today, on our usual walk to the park I noticed that there was a new rectangle of green tarmack on the road. I walked over it but was stopped by Rosie who took very small steps across whilst sniffing the ground throughly before placing her foot down! It was lucky the road isnt very busy because it took ages to get Rosie over! (Dont ask me why its there or what the tarmack is for, probably coz the council had nothing else to do!) I dont know if it smelt funny, or just because it was new, but Rosie gave it a rough sniffing session!
Laura it isn't just your Rosie who is so nosey our Chad is the same. A few weeks back men were digging up the road and when I walked Chad in my shorts (with the type of men that like a good oggle at you) he was rather taken by the road narrowing sign on the footpath. It had sand bags holding it in place, after a long sniff and much chuntering and pulling on my part he lifted his leg and cristened the sign! I was mortified!
Why is it they always choose to embarass you or in your case start it in the middle of a road!
Talking about embarrasing!! When i was about 18 (and yeah, i can remember that far back!!) i had my own two dogs and my Mum had a Lhasa Apso (less said about that the better), she was a spoilt wee madam who sat at the table to eat while my boxer and german shepherd had to slum it on the floor.
Anyway after much huffing and puffing i agreed to take her out for a walk this one day, while i was passing a lay by on a really busy road where about 20 bikers had pulled in for a stop the wee darling decided she had walked far enough and promptly lay down and refused to get up again I had to bend down, pick her up and carry her all the way home, i can still here the crowd of guys laughing at me even now!!
Needless to say my Mum walked her every time after that.

Em and Chad xx
Typical male! We have that problem with our collie. Wherever we go we have to stop every 20 yards for Gem to scent the lamposts! I actually think its so that if he gets lost he knows his way back!!
All three of mine are chronic sniffers! They won't walk past anything without giving it a thorough sniff.
You want embarrassing - I give you Wills! I was taking him for a walk and we were heading up the road towards the old reservoir behind the town. Ahead of us a car pulled in and a woman got out. She started unloading her shopping - can you guess where this is heading? - and putting the bags on the pavement. Wills reached the first bag, sniffed it and christened it. Mortified doesn't even begin to cover it! I don't know how many times I apologised to that woman.
I have to say, she was very gracious about it and even managed a wee laugh (the through gritted teeth type mainly) but it was a nightmare.
That's a good one by Wills! The most embarassing with Biscuit so far is on his first beach holiday this year in June (Northumberland). Duly collected his poo, and set poo bag up on dunes along with rug, bag etc. When home time came, Biscuit decided a dirty protest was in order, lunged behind us, grabbed poo bag, and proceeded to shake it like prey, scattering contents over the beach - felt like leaving him there I was so embarassed!
No he didn't get a shock, carried on regardless, as I'm sure he knows fine well what the poo bag is etc., just knew it would humiliate us, and distract from going home, being put on lead etc. In the same week, I was trying to spread the blanket, when he suddenly grabbed it and a tug of war ensued with blanket being ripped! I could just see folk sitting s******ing as he made a right fool of me! I'm getting used to it!
Dunno - never seen green tarmac! Don't often see tarmac anyway - they put it in the hole, it rains and it vanishes. If you blink, you miss it around here!
Know what you mean about the tug of war - Tigger has nearly cost me a jumper and a bath robe so far. It's only because I let go that they survived. My sailing waterproofs seem to cause great excitement too - she goes mental.

Perhaps he (or she) would if he (or she) would ever show up! Anyone see any strange looking objects at the GALa, he (or she) said he (or she) would be there?..
I just noticed that bit of green tarmac the other day Laura, I think they've been putting green tarmac at junctions to show the street has a 20mph limit. (That's what I decided anyway!) I was on the otherside of the road, so I don't know if Casper would have been interested in it or not. Probably not, he's always too excited to get to the park to stop and sniff. Jane

Yeh thats what they are for. I only found out yesterday! Rosie was definetly confused as well, Dave! Havent seen you and Casper in the park for a while, Jane, but now that Im back to school Im there quite early in the morning (7:30am, but not at weekends!) and again in the evenings so thats probly why Ive missed you.
Good for you getting up and walking Rosie before school! I doubt I would have done that when I was still at school.
I have been to rosemount a couple of times this week, but have been going round the loch and beecraigs mostly. I doubt I will see you if you're there at 7.30am! but will maybe see you at the weekends
Jane

Yeh, sometimes walking before school is a bit of a drag, but it kinda wakes me up! My neighbour had two girls staying with her and they said they met you a couple of times while they were walking a wee westie? I generally use rosemount as a toilet stop for Rosie, rather than a propar walk! We havent taken her to Beecraigs yet, but she loves having a good run at Kinneil and Candie. We've found these to be the best places where she can run of the lead and we dont worry about roads etc. Hopefully Rosie will be able to get to know Casper soon! Out of interest, does Bess, the golden retriever on the corner, go mad and start barking when you walk past with Casper?

Yes, the golden retriever barks at us, then we cross the road to avoid it and get barked at by a big male boxer. Casper usually just runs past with his tail between his legs, although a couple of times recently he did have a wee bark himself (although I wouldn't call it a proper bark!) And yes, I had a few encounters with the Westie! A very bouncy little thing! I live quite far from rosemount so I just use it for Casper to play ball, as I muzzle him when he's off lead on all his other walks so its the only chance he gets to play with a tennis ball outside the garden. Hopefully see you and Rosie soon. Jane

Yeh that boxer is a real meanie! He went for Rosie in the park but Rosie wasnt having any of it and started growling and barking at him!The owners defence was that he 'just wanted to play', some how I dont think so And to add to the situation it was pouring with rain Yes Mac is full of energy and wants to make friends with everyone!
