Tom didn't want his scrambled eggs & pasta tonight so I'll try him with it in the morning. I can't see him going upstairs tonight so I might stay down with him. Mind you, he hasn't got anything in his tummy to need the garden so he may be ok.
Just to let everyone know that Sally has taken a step backwards since yesterday which i am hoping has more to do with her neutering op than anything else.
She is now lying upstairs all day and not coming to greet visitors, in fact it takes a lot of coaxing to get her to come down at all, even to eat or go out for walks. I have noticed that her leg is giving her more pain than the op site and i think that may have something to do with her reluctance to come downstairs as she seems fine going up but has let out a little yelp as she lands on the way down. Once down though her appetite is fine and her stitches don't seem to be bothering her much up till now.
She is very jumpy on walks again, actually if i'm honest even more so than when she arrived and is being extremely grumpy with everything outside and even Neo has been put in his place with a quick growl if he even looks at her in the house!! I'm convinced she thinks i'm taking her back to the vet every time i produce her lead
In saying that i am sure this is all a temporary setback and once she recovers from the op and being in the vet's all day (there were a lot of dogs in for ops, and all very noisy ones, probably reminded her of being back in the kennel) she will progress well again so i'm really just giving her space to come round and build up the bond of trust again.
Think i might have to blindfold her to get her back to have the stitches removed though
If only they could talk and tell us what's bothering them. It does sound like it's more to do with her mood, and as you say the op may have brought back some bad memories, because they are so sensitive. Sally had obviously just embraced her new life so well, that the vet visit has knocked her a wee bit - I'm sure she will come round with extra fussing from her mum.
I hope this is the last post you will see about Sally on the foster pages (Dave, i have sent you an e-mail).
She has recovered from her grumpiness after her op and is Neo's pal again! Her character is really starting to come out now and she is learning to play, favourite game at the moment is unmaking my bed and trying to wriggle under the quilt as soon as i have tidied in the morning
She is definately not cat safe and is still showing aggression to all other dogs (except Neo) but i think it's more of a protection thing (rather than fear aggression) combined with excitement. She is the sweetest wee girl in the house and the kids love her and she loves them, she is much gentler and more interested in the baby than Neo is and she follows Ryan everywhere and stands with her nose pressed against the window when he goes off to school in the morning
I could not bear the thought of her leaving after building up so much trust and have decided to give her a permanent home with me, the kids and Neo and i hope she is as happy about it as we are
Well done Gail...looks like I'm on the search for more foster homes again!! Sally is looking just great now, quite a change from that timid wee girl I saw down at the kennels 2 months ago, you've done a great job with her
I usually get to this point with all (ok the only other two we've borrowed) foster dogs, then Dave usually comes up with a perfect forever home..............Kai is special though, cos he's such a sensitive wee soul, and still looks terrified sometimes. (usually when am screechin at Dexter or his dad! ) Plus av got/have to convince maysel and Robert we can cope with 4 groos permanently. Can a no just says it long term fosterin?!
Hi Gail I've not been on for a while so i'm just catching up. Thats great news about Sally staying, she is looking really well in the photos. Look forward to meeting up with you again at one of the events.
Landess Sunny and Zoe.

Thanks everyone for your congrats on Sally staying with us. I'm sure you will all hear plenty more about her. I just hope she is as happy with us as we are having her here, think the happiest one is Neo though, she has brought out a playful side of him that i have never seen before
