Unfortunately the marathon continues.  Now - due to the prolonged bandaging - the other side of her foot has broken out in an ulcer.  This is immensely worrying and potentially very bad news.

Very hard to get this right - don't bandage and she may lick it into a state - bandage and the bandage itself may cause further problems (which is what has happened).

So - now we have to try to keep it very lightly covered so that it is protected from her tongue, but with no pressure on it whatsoever.

Poor wee sweetheart!    What a nightmare for you.  It's catch 22 and never an easy call!  Hope everything sorts itself out soon.  We'll be thinking of you all.  Give Suzie a hug from us in the meantime.

Really sorry to hear that Suzy is having such bother with her foot. We'll keep our fingers tightly crossed that she begins to show signs of improvement very soon.

What a shame, poor Suzie and you. It's a worry when whatever we try to do for the best just doesn't work the way we hope. Hope she learns to leave it alone to heal soon

Hi Lesley

How's the toe doing?  Any progress?

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.  Suzie's foot is improving thank goodness.  What a long haul it has been.  She still has a small scab on one side and the joints are still enlarged, but largely it is healing.  The new skin is very thin and delicate so I am applying Aloe Vera gel to aid healing, and she wears a sock in the house to prevent any licking.

Hopefully the dislocated toe which started it all will have had a long enough rest to stay in place.

We'll keep the positive vibes going in your direction and here's hoping it's all mended very soon.  Poor Suzie must be getting stir-crazy!

Keep us posted.

Hiya

Thought I'd just ask how the dislocated toe was doing - any progress?

Hope Suzie recovers and doesn't need to lose a toe. They are such a worry these oldies when they get up to mischief!
