Hiya, we had a HUGE walk today with the dogs. We went up the Pentland Hills. We did 3 peaks. Myself and the dogs are shattered. Im really proud of Toby as he's so old, he kept up really well. Millie struggled a bit (i know greyhounds are not made for hill climbing but i'd have felt guilty leaving her at home by herself). We just kept stopping to give her a water break as it was really hot climbing up to the first peak. Of course, mad Eva was loving it, running about crazy the whole way!!
Just before the top it poured with rain and hailestones and the wind made it unbearable. When we stopped at the top for lunch it had dried a bit but poor Millie was soaked right through and shaking with the cold. I had to take my jacket off and wrap it round her and cuddle her into me to keep her warm. She was fine when we got moving again.
Although Millie is cat safe, we now know for sure, she is not sheep safe she bolted off at 40mph towards the sheep at one point, they were far away in the distance and i **** myself. Silly me for not thinking about the fact there was loose sheep around. Luckily, her recall is fab, and when my bf yelled her name she came back as quickly as she had gone away
She stayed most of the walk on the lead after that as wasn't going through that again

Brilliant photos and cracking views in the backgrounds. The dogs look like they had a ball! What did you do to get Millie's recall that good - Tigger's is dreadful.

If im totally honest, she is quite a clingy dog anyway and never really goes far away from me. I have learnt lots of tips from my friends that i walk the dogs with (Jade & Dino)
I usually just carry treats in my pockets whenever im out walking and every so often just shout millie back and give her a treat. I carry high and low value treats ie low value = dry kibble and high value = cheese or sausage and each time i shout her back she doesnt know what treat she's gonna get so is just as keen everytime she returns as she may get a bit of cheese
Im really lucky as never really had an problems with Millie from day one, apart from her dodgy heart but she seems to be over that now

Jennifer the photo's are brilliant, what superb views and the dogs are lovely as always. I'm sure they must be well up the list of your favourite pics of them all
Looks like Millie, Toby and Eva had a great time. The photos are great as usual I just love the way Millie settles herself into some grass and ferns to have great framing of a beautiful girl
and big hugs to old man Toby for keeping up on the walk and also just for being Toby
