Absolutely wonderful! Hazel is lucky to have such a big gentle friend & playmate, and you are lucky to have them both. Do you ever get anything done other than watch them together? I know I wouldn't...
Amanda i am so jealous, wish my Callan could be trusted with the dogs but i think it would be more than their ears getting pulled, he is a typical boy and just to rough The closest i get to anything that lovely is when Sally always comes and gives him a little lick when i bring him home in the pram, it's as if she is saying she's glad he is back and then she keeps her distance. maybe when she is more settled it will be different, i would love to get photo's like yours and i've no chance with Neo as he ignores the baby completely
Both Hazel and Blue are adorable, you must be a very proud Mum
Great piccies Amanda, can I put Hazel's name down for a Greyhound say in about 20 years time? It's so great how good Blue is with her and it's only going to benefit Hazel growing up with such a good dog
Lovely photos and would be great to use to encourage people to believe that greyhounds are not the "demon dogs" that some seem determined to believe!
Love the second one too. Tell me, did that end in Blue gently touching Hazel on the shoulder or somewhere with that paw? My three all do that when I lie down beside them.

That sounds lovely Isla but no Blue frantically rubs his ear with his paw when he is wanting someone to scratch his ears for him and if that doesnt work he rolls on to his back and cycles his front paws.
It was because of the children we got a greyhound. We had read how wonderful they are with children.

That sounds familiar...I was at the vets with Casper when I first got him and was having a very serious conversation with the vet going over Caspers xrays when the vet started laughing. I turned around and Aedan, who had just turned 2, was touching Casper somewhere he shouldn't be. I was pretty mortified and said "Aedan, stop that!" and gave him a 'look', but he just said to me "I am just touching his willy mummy" as though it was completely normal!! I had to try not to laugh, as it would just encourage him more! Casper didn't seem to mind
Hazel and Blue are just gorgeous I believe it is great for children to grow up with pets, especially greys, as they are so loving and gentle. The pictures you posted really show a special bond. It's lovely to see

Amanda, it was only on a return visit to your lovely photos that I noticed how Hazel and Blue are 'mirroring' each other - first both lying on their fronts with arms outstretched, then on their sides with 'cycling' arms. Who copies whom?
And Gail, I smiled at your post - the fact that you are more worried about the hound's safety than the child's says it all! My only worry with my dogs around children would be that they might accidentally knock little ones over.
I wish my two had grown up with dogs from very young!
I must admit, I grew up with dogs and think that all children should know the joys of having a pet in the family. I have a step brother and sister and their children are terrified of animals, birds in the garden are a particular terror on one side and just animals in general on the other side. It's really sad that they are growing up scared.
I also think that having pets is a good way to combat all the immune problems that seem to be particularly prevalent at the moment. I was always taught that "you have to eat a ton of dirt before you die" and it seems that this fixation of "oh my god - dirt" nowadays is not doing everyone's immune systems much good. You have to wonder how we all survived the 70s and 80s!
If I'm not making much sense - it's because we've had approximately a bottle of wine apiece this evening!
