Hi Sha if doing the relay you would need to do 10k. It takes place in May. As you probably know we stay in Longniddry so if you were wanting to do the race and fancy meeting up closer to the time to train that would be great
You've done really well loosing 2.5 stone and are probably fitter than me! I have spent an hour this am at physio having my pelvis put back in place but everything crossed should be back training next week after 3 weeks off
Thanks, a training partner sounds a fab idea. I am really interested and i only live 10 mins up the road from you. I don`t have kids (well i do but they are 17 & 19 lol!) so i could come down to longniddry to train no prob as it may be easier for you. Maybe once Christmas and New Year are out the way we could arrange something???
Just a quick update again - we now have two full teams running in the Hairy Haggis Relay
and I have just received an application form from someone who is doing the full marathon for GAL.
Thanks to you all for agreeing to take part - this means that all being well, we should be on target to raise a minimum of £1,500 on the 27th May when the event takes place.
We still have two more places left - they can be filled by a team of four people or individuals.
Have a great Christmas everyone - I will be in touch early in the New Year to send out further details.
Ok most of the chocolates and other rubbish over the festive season have been consumed (big time!) and i`ve drank an ocean of wine lol. Put on 7lbs in 2 weeks EEEEK!!!!
Time to start training if you still want me????
My friend Catherine (the girl who helped at Edinburgh can collection) is up for taking part aswell,
Well I think Phil will be well and truly fed up with me by May! After lots of moaning that I was never going to be able to run the 10 k I went out today and ran further and faster than I thought I could. I have got a lot of work to do but I am getting there!! Lots of apologies to Phil for being a stroppy mare I can tell you!
Ok I know everyone on the forum is very generous but I thought you might like a look at the Skinny Hounds fund raising page so you can keep an eye on our progress www.justgiving.com/AmandaRoyall
The Skinny Hounds and Haggis Hounds aim to raise at least £1000 between us for Gal.
We also have someone running individually in the Lochaber Marathon for us.
If anyone else is still interested in the Edinburgh event - I have one place left for the Marathon (or for a team of 4 people to do the Hairy Haggis Relay).
GAL will also be manning a Water Station on the day along the course at Port Seton Links. This is where our "cheering station " will be so anyone is welcome to come along and help out or give the runners some encouragement along the course!
More details will follow nearer the time, but if anyone is interested in helping out with the water station, please let me know. You will need to be prepared to be in Edinburgh early on the morning of 27th May as we will be setting up at 9am.
Free BBQ and T shirt to all who help a long with a £15 donation from the Marathon to GAL! We need 15 helpers and have 9 so far.
Now that the London Marathon is out of the way - I hope as many of you as possible can make it along to watch our runners in the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 27th May.
We have a cheering station at Port Seton Links and there will be a colourful display from GAL to give us a much promotion as possible and make us visible to the runners as they pass by.
Myself and a team of kind volunteers will be manning the waterstation there too - please come along and give us your support! It is rumoured that Scooby Doo might make an appearance at the event too.................(hope it's not too hot a day for you Scooby!).
Thanks to all the efforts of the runners with their fundraising and training. So far they have raised online £838 with just over a month to go until the event. Well done and keep up the good work.
If anyone would like to help at the waterstation or cheering point, we still have some vancancies to fill.
We have now filled all our charity places and have three teams running and two full marathon runners. See you on the day and I hope you all enjoy yourselves.
Hi not long now. Hope to see some of you there cheering us on. I am rather nervous to say the least. Hope I don't look like Phoebe from friends when I run
thank you to everyone who has supported us mad runners so far - whether that's volunteering to man the water station, saying that you'll cheer us on from the sidelines, or by sponsoring us!!
It's not too late if you haven't sponsored us yet!!!! See the above postings for links to the justgiving websites ..... go on, you know you want to!!!! Let's see if we can up the money for GAL just a little bit more!!!
Sharon
