Winter coat?
Permalink Closed

I know that almost all breeds of dog sheds their summer coat for a winter coat, but do greyhounds? I understand that they need to be kept warm in the cold months, and as any dog, cool in the summer. I have noticed that Rosie is getting a bit of dandruff and have groomed her lots. Is this signs of a thicker undercoat growing?

Im not totally sure Laura but i reckon they do. Millie's thighs were going bald and now they are all hairy again. I reckon that was just her coat changing as she's never had baldy thighs before

Zak went like that as well; he needed loads of grooming as he moulted loads of fur as well as getting slightly baldly thighs. He now has a thick shiny coat, though there is a bit of moulting still going on.

Piper finished moulting a few weeks ago and has a slightly thicker coat now. Darker than before, and shiny.

Tilly has been moulting loads lately - thank goodness for shredding blades and our dyson! - she also has slight bald patches on her thighs which are gradually growing back in.  Her coat is definately changing so probably is getting her winter coat.  Won't be long until she'll be wearing her fleecy jammies to bed again!

Cas is shedding loads, and I am another one glad of the shredder and a good hoover. Nora
