We had the pleasure of adopting Tuohy Hero, who was known as Bruce when he was with his sspca fosterers Mary and Alastair four years ago, through GAL's ad in the Evening Times ,although we already knew Denise,Martin and their Greys. He was the most graceful, loving gentleman of a Greyhound I have ever had the privilege to own.He had been a cruelty case and it took us a long while to get him to trust again-thankfully he trusted us. We had to have Rio-as we called him-put to sleep on 16.10.06,just after he turned 12 on 5.10.06.He had a stroke and his quality of life and above all his comfort and his dignity would have been lost.I cannot come to terms with him not being a part of our lives any more and have a huge hole in my life where Rio should be.My other four Greys know he is missing and that makes me bubble, too! I and my family thank Gal and the sspca for letting us adopt our Distinguished Old Gentleman-he was and is always in our hearts. Regards,Maureen McDade and family.
So sorry to hear about Rio. I bet he had a corker of a 12th birthday with you. It sounds like he's had a wonderful life as part of a very loving family.
Sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved Rio. He sounded like a splendid gent. May you take comfort in that you gave him the best years of his life and shared happy times. Everyone on the forum will understand your loss and the sadness you're going through.
Hope you keep in touch with us through the forum and tell us about your other greys.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your gent. Thank goodness he had a family who loved him enough to do the right thing. My heart goes out to you at this sad time
Sorry for your loss. You can take comfort knowing that you did what was best for him. Older greyhounds have so much to give and it is a privilege to share the last years with them.
I'm so sorry about Rio but knowing your devotion to greys i just know he had a wonderful life with you. Enjoy your happy memories as they live on forever.
So sorry to hear about Rio. It sounds like he was a lovely gentle dog and I know how you must be feeling just now. But you gave him the best years of his life and you'll have wonderful memories of him. Thinking of you all...
So very sorry to hear of your loss. Rio spent the best years of his life with you and learned what it was like to be loved and part of a family. I'm quite sure he was an extremely happy dog, right up to the end. Not that it makes the loss any easier.
Dear everyone, thank you all so much. This has been a horrible week-I never thought I could bubble so much. All your kind words and messages have lifted us all and my other four Greys are certainly keeping me occupied, but Rio is always there. Many thanks again, all. KIndest regards,Maureen.
