What a sweet face, I love doggy noses and lips - the bottom lip is always slightly visible as though they are pouting and trying to look even more cute to win us over!
Hi Claire, her name is Tigger (she picked it herself - she came as Star but didn't answer to that) and she is approximately two and a half now. She will be three next May. She is very much the baby of my little pack - the other two are seven and nine approximately. I've attached a couple of photos to introduce the other two.
Millie - seven(ish)
Wills - nine(ish)
The "bum" in the background is Millie - never one to miss a trick!
What lovely pix of Millie and Wills. We have a Millie too, and the bum in the back of Dylans snap is Kiera lol. Bums and Greyhounds lol We also have Jazzy he is a foster dog who we think will have a new home in November. If you click on here you will see our lot with Litas two (Tyler and Max)
I love that photo of them all together - it's such a great advert for greys. I love the wee face third from the left and the wee black next to it. I just love em all!
I hope Jazzy's new home comes through and that he settles in quickly and happily. Will keep my fingers crossed for him.
Third from the left is Jazzy our foster boy. He has the most beautiful amber coloured eyes. Hopefully he'll go to his forever home soon. The wee black is Kiera (aka Kiwi). She can be a bit crabbit when she meets people/dogs for the first time but she has a fabulous nature and it's been great seeing her develop from the wee skinny, timid thing when we first got her to the playful and loving wee girl that she's become.
I can understand that - Millie can be a bit crabby when it suits her. Everything has to be on her terms and she can be quite precious about things at times. Like you though, I have found it very rewarding watching their personalities grow and develop. Both Wills and Millie have had problems in their past that have left very undesireable imprints on them and, unfortunately no matter how much tlc they are given, they will always have that little wary streak. Both hate raised voices or dispute in the house and Millie can be quite nervous of any quick movements. I've even seen her jump when she's forgotten that I am behind her on a walk. It really makes me angry that someone can do that to a dog and leave it scarred, both mentally and physically for the rest of it's life.
However, on a happier note, they are much more confident and happy in themselves now.
Oooh! Now I feel guilty!! Speedy was called Tigger when I got him but he didn't answer to his name.. My mother (allergic to dogs, but not (so far) to Speedy, had a much loved cat called Tigger that was found dead and ripped to bits so I couldn't possibly call him Tigger!) Hope you understand that.. Tigger (cat) was probably dead when he was dismantled (by a fox?) but still couldn't call Speedy Tigger - my Mother wouldn't have taken to him.... She is quite enamoured with him at the moment and keeps telling my Dad that he is better than my Ex-husband.. Even if it means I won't be providing the only grandchildren.. Ho hum..
I love the beige Millie - the first dog I was offered by RGT was v similar and a beaut but he couldn't cope with my stairs, farted loads and was HUGE! Speedy has settled very well - all things considering..
Wills looks like a baby grey but I suspect is not... He is very lovely though... Are you able to go on the Edinburgh walk this Sunday?? I am hoping to make it and really keen to meet and talk to real people rather than gleaning info from this site.. Never had a dog before and an utter beginner and loving it!!!
Abbys Dad - how can you post so many pictures of Greys when I can only fit one Grey in the boot of my car??????????? I want them all!!!!!
Isla I totally empathise with your experience o watching dogs settle. Like your our lot had rough times, but now they all have a good homes and look happy. Claire, like you I cannot resist seeing greys without a home. Take Millie for example, I was out at Arnold Clark with a friend hiring a van for her house moving. When she was away getting the van I just popped into Milton. The next you know we had Millie as our third dog.
Since Halloween is soon upon us here is a link to a photo of Dylan doing a James Bond eyebrow
Isla, it was only a few days ago I actually realised who Tigger is. As you mentioned in a recent post 'she appeared to be a quiet little dog' at the Xmas show! Then I realised it was 'Star'. Great photos of all three!
Hi Claire, no need to feel guilty at all. As I said, she picked her name and it's not necessarily what I would have chosen. However, she answered to it, liked it so it stayed. Sadly, I won't manage the walk in Edinburgh as I am a west coaster. I live in Dunoon so even the Glasgow walks are a bit of a hike. Keep meaning to try and get to one though. I will be at the Christmas Fayre though and will be going to the greyhound day this year (time for my little lurchers to get a day off). Will maybe see you there (hopefully cos I'd love to meet Speedy). Must admit, three are a bit of a squeeze in the back of our car but doesn't stop me wanting more!!!
Love the Bond eyebrow that Dylan is doing - how cute is that!
I think a lot of Tigger's nonsense and being "not so quiet" is because I had to actively encourage Wills and, to a lesser degree, Millie to develop their characters and be themselves so Tigger has been encouraged the same way. She's just so effervescent though - there's not much gets her down! She certainly didn't need much encouragement to be herself - cheeky madam!!!
