After what started as a wonderful walk on a lovely morning ended with Dylan having to go to the Vets yesterday. He ripped the top of his right leg. It was a horrible wound and looked like he had ripped a large chunk of skin off. At the Vets we were told that the muscle was damaged and that it was a serious wound. It seems he caught himself on barbed wire or something sharp as he was running at a speed. The wound has been treated and its looking good for our little boy to recover as fully as expected, though time will tell. There was damage to the muscle and required stitching. He will be left with a scar and maybe a limp. Plenty of TLC hugs and kisses required and he is all sorry for himself. But he is a lot more mobile than we thought and hobbles from comfy bed to comfy bed. Its a timely reminder of the dangers at this time of year when squirrels are more prominent. He wont be running or off the lead for while.
Poor Dylan. Hope his leg heals well and not too much damage was done to the muscle. Its unbelievable how easily they can damage themselves with their thin skin, and how horrible it lookswhen it happens.
Poor Dylan. Hope he heals well. The dangers of life in the fast lane. Rosie has a whopping great big scar (all ragged) that starts mid thigh and ends on her inner thigh at her knee! Must have been barbed wire during her working days. Looks like a home job as well to be honest as not neat enough to be a vet. She has no long term damage and no limp. I'm sure Dylan will be as good as new. They heel incredibly well.
A wee update on Dylans injury, first of all thank you to all the kind messages and thoughts from everyone who posted a message for him. He is doing very well indeed. Yesterday he was dying to get out for a walk with the other three. He was so excited when the jackets and leads were being put on, but so sad as I had to look at him and his sad face through the patio door as we all went out. So when Helen was coming home from work, out came his lead and jacket and we went a gentle walk to meet mummy, he did so well and was very mobile considering how deep the wound was. We met the vet when we were out and she was amazed at how quick he is up and about and how quickly the wound is healing. He is loving all the attention and especially since we dont make him wear his lampshade. He licks the wound but hasnt bit the stitches which is good. Big hug and lots of lix from Dylan to all his GAL friends x
Glad Dylan is healing so well - it really does amaze me how they just get on with it! Hope he continues to do well and is back out with the other three for walkies soon.
