Thanks for a fantastic day out at the Fayre, it was great to meet all the dogs and they were all so well behaved. Cas and Sasha managed to win fourth place in the Happiest Family, we spent a fortune in the shop and the homebaking was delicous. Well done to everyone involved and hope the weekend has raised lots of dosh for GAL. My two were horizontil until this morning, thanks again. Nora

I know what you mean - Wilma barely moved out of her bed all evening! she looked soooo sleepy - poor thing!
Thanks to the organisers for doing a great job. Special thanks, again, to Linda for having the boys for us for the day! They loved helping out - in fact all they talked about on the way home was who was doing what next year!!! They were as tired as Wilma and went to bed with very little fuss!
Thanks to Lorna in the shop - the calendar is gorgeous!!!!! We also got one of the biscuit cutters & Chas has been charged with making 30 biscuits for Toby to take to school on Wednesday for his newstime! How many other 6year olds can say that they spent their Sunday helping out at an animal charity event?! He'll be a great ambassador for GAL, I just know it!!
Looking forward to reading the final totals collected, plus the number of dogs rehomed & the number of applications received!!

If anyone wants to download/print any of Eion's photos of them and their dogs for their own personal use, that is fine with us. (Obviously any commercial use of the photos would be different.)
We all really enjoyed the show - so great to see so many stunning, happy, healthy dogs with so obviously great homes. Here's hoping that those without homes get the one they deserve really soon.
Really good to see so many children there who are obviously discovering what brilliant companions greyhounds make.
Thanks to all the organisers - hope loads of money was raised for GAL. Thanks for the great photo's too - oh and well done to Sheila for raising so much through selling her beautiful hand made cards - Debbie's Mum was thrilled with the packs we bought for her.
Andrew & Debbie and a very tired (and quite proud) Tilly and Drummer.
Greyhound Day looks just as good as Lurcher Day was! Super photos, Eoin. Great news that Sheila's cards are doing so well in the GAL shop and raising so much money! Well done!Delighted everyone enjoyed both days and congratulations to all the prizewinners!
We had a wonderful day on Sunday. Would just like to echo everyone elses MANY THANKS to the organisers!!!!! I would have stayed to help pack up but with a saw paw I can't do much at the moment.. Pathetic - I know!
Speedy came 5th in "Best Sit" and 6th in "Best Juvenile." Not bad for a hound that wouldn't sit 2 weeks ago - lots of bribery going on though! He leaped on the judge in the "Best Juvenile" which didn't help us much... It was all a bit of a laugh though and we had a great day.
I have been telling everyone about our wonderful day out and the Homeless Hounds and trying to encourage my neighbours/friends/relatives to take one on.. I have to admit to being tempted myself but I am going away over New Year and couldn't let a poor dog think he has lost a new home so soon of being relieved of living in kennels.. I need a cat-safe dog too.. I need a bigger car boot too.. Still tempted though..
I began to worry that Speedy had died in the back of the car on the way back to Edinburgh as he was so quiet! He had utterly flaked out but woke up when we arrived at Pets at Home in order to get him some Bonio's...
MANY THANKS to all that helped make it a great day!!! So great to meet so many like-minded people..
Hi folks, well it's Wednesday and I'm just recovering from the show, I can't seem to manage a full weekend anymore since I turned 20 ahem.
OK, well what a great weekend (I think!) stuck behind the info stall (our outside for a quick smoke) I didn't see anything of the show (don't worry thats the 5th year running I've seen nowt!) but it seemed to go well and I was really glad to catch up on all the dogs homed recently and in the past.
I'll post a full list of results later today but just to let you all know the Best in Show Lurcher was BAILEY, he's a 17yr old Lurcher and still going strong, a great choice for the top prize. Our Best in Show Greyhound was NICKY, a huge congratulations to his owners, Nicky has now done the 'double' as he also won the GALa King crown back in August, well deserved I have to say, he's a black Greyhound with that extra special sheen to his coat, I swear you could actually use him as a mirror!
On the money front over the 2 days GAL took in just under £4,500 which was an amazing total and will see us through the 'quiet' Christmas and New Year period.
On the dog front 3 lucky dogs found their forever homes, FERGUS was adopted on Saturday and RORY & BELLA were adopted on Sunday, good luck to their new owners! Finally pending a couple of home checks I'm hopeful of getting 2 more dogs homed as a direct result of folks seeing them on Sunday during the homeless hound parade.
Think thats it, just to say a huge thanks to everyone that attended over both days and showed their support to GAL, hope you all had a great time.
What a great amount of money raised at the Christmas Fayre! Well done to all the volunteers who worked so hard and of course to all of the participants in the Dog Show.
My weekend was made when I met a very happy Murphy (formerly Sammy), who was one of the Bothwell 17 from last November. I encouraged a family to home him in April when I was on hand at SPCA, and they were at the show on Sunday with the intention of homing a girlfriend for him.
Dave, as for being kept out of the way! It's so you don't frighten the weans!!!!
What a great result - both financially and the satisfaction of rehoming 3 (hopefully plus!).
Once again, well done to all the organisers and volunteers! You did a great job!
And finally, Dave, despite Cleo's coyness, both she and Cookie were delighted to see you again as well! I don't think Myrtle met you for long enough the day she came home with us to remember if she knows you or not (if you see what I mean)!
That's a fantastic amount to have raised in the space of two days! Huge congratulations to the organisers for making it possible and a big pat on the back to all those who spent money and raised the cash.
Finally, congratulations to the lucky hounds who got the best Christmas present possible - a new home, and to their lucky new families.
As I previously said (somewhere), I did try for a fourth but Graeme said no.
Had a great day on Sunday and the gang seemed to enjoy themselves. Kai was a star and took everything in his stride, being happy and relaxed all day with all the different hounds.
Kai's take on the day was - 'so many bums (to sniff), so little time'
Once again a great amount to take in for 2 days, big pat on the back to all those who helped and organise such a magical day, having taking Rory and Bella home it was extra special for us, WELL DONE TO ALL

Fantastic amount raised, well done to everyone for the hard work in organising everything, all your efforts (and probably sleepless nights) have proved worthwhile.
Brilliant news for Fergus, Rory and Bella, an extra special xmas ahead for them and hopefully a few others too!!
Super photos of the Lurcher Day Christmas Show! Thanks Graham, for posting them and Claire for taking them. It was a great turnout from all the GAL lurchers!
Another quick update from the show is we now have 2 other hounds going to their new home for Christmas as a result of their new owners seeing them in the homeless dog parades on the day...
