Can anyone give us advice on what type of car is best for 2 greys, an 11 yr old and their mum and dad. Jax and i have a VW Lupo and a Seat Arosa (identical in size) which are really small. It's ok when its just the dogs and two of us, as the back seats are down and theres loads of room for everyone. But when theres the pups and all 3 of us we have to take 2 cars. TOTAL NIGHTMARE!
THe only thing is we don't really want a big engined car, a big car or estate. SOmething that has a little bit of a boot so that we only need to fold down one seat. THe smaller the engine the better (we drive 1l just now). We were thinking of killing 2 birds with one stone and just get an LPG VW Camper (just an excuse to go camping with the pooches, hehe). Does anyone have any advice. We were looking at Seat Ibizas but the boots a bit tight.
Seems like a daft question really but greys, adults and kids do take up alot of room.
We used to have a Honda Jazz a great little car with bags off space the back seats fold 2 or 1 so plenty room for doggies. Sometimes we had 3 adults, 1 child, four dogs and a couple of chickens in it, LOL only kidding about the chickens! Seriously it was a great car, economical, roomy and very comfy. The height of the boot is great for greys and Cas just loved it. Nora

I was going to suggest a Honda Jazz too. I've know a couple of people who've had them and they're great. Loads of room for their size.
We have an ex-military FC101 Landrover, its a retired light artillary tractor and its great. But doesn't have a small engine and isn't everyone's cup of tea:
There is plenty of room inside thought. And 11 year olds love it!
I've also seen some ex-police dog vans that look pretty good with five seats in the front half and a ventilated dog cage at the back. They are smallish car-based vans so pretty economical. They turn up from time to time a auctions.
We had a mazda 323 - room for 2 dogs (our hounds are quite big too) in the boot without folding the seats down - but not a huge car. Ours was a 1.6litre but I think they might start from a 1.3. Plenty of leg room in the back for adult passengers, so should be plenty of room for your 11 yr old as they grow :)
We used to have a Skoda Felicia and could fit 2 dogs in the boot, without putting any seats down - we've got 2 kids so need all the room in the back we can get! We now have the Fabia estate, but I think the hatchback has the same sized boot as the Felicia.
Here's a picture of Freddy & Wilma in the boot of the felicia:
There was actually enough room for them both to stand up & turn around - Freddy was a big boy at 35kg and Wilma's a petite 25kg.
Hope that helps & good luck!

I was driving around the other day and saw a car that i'd never seen before. Its called a Nissan Note and I thought of your post when i saw it. It looks like it has the height in the boot for the dogs and adequate space.
Havent been in one though so could be decieving but worth a look.
Although i have had my licence for about 20 year i don't drive at all now (or very occasionally) but the guy round the corner has a Vauxhall Zafira estate, don't know much about engine sizes but there is loads of room for the dogs, he gave me a lift with my two once and i was really impressed with the space they had. Really good height for Grey's too!!
We've got a vauxhall astra estate and it has a huge boot. Tilly actually looks small in it and there's even plenty of room for Drummer when he comes to stay!!
It's a Vauxhall Zafira that we have. The car we had previously for dog transportation was getting a bit small. It's great because it doesn't look like a huge car or feel like an estate to drive but it's got bags of room for dogs and passengers. I get my three in the boot and can still have people in the back seat (although the dogs prefer no back seat passengers as they get more room that way).
The one we have is a 1.6 and I'm not sure they come any smaller than that.
