I was at the vets with Casper and got the best news I could hope for to start 2007.
It has been a long three months since Casper had the operation on his knee and even longer since he has been on a proper walk, but yesterday I was told Casper can now get full exercise!!
The last time I was at the vet school at the end of November he was limping badly and fluid taken from his knee showed an infection in his joint, but now a month later the infection has cleared up, the inflammation has gone down and he is walking much better. He is now allowed off lead and is on full exercise. I am over the moon for him, it's been so long since he had his muzzle on and was allowed off lead that he was pawing at his face as though it was the first time he'd worn it. After he got used to the fact that it wasn't coming off he ran about like a dafty, dive bombing me and playing chase. I was grinning from ear to ear.
I have been warned that if he falls over or cannot cope with full exercise we may still have to amputate but I would rather have a happy three legged dog than a miserable four legged dog. I know this might not last forever, and more surgery may be needed in the future but I am just so happy to see that he is much better and much happier and so far seems to be coping great
And Nora, fingers crossed we will make it to a beach walk soon
Jane

As I clicked on to the the forum tonight I thought about him and here you were telling us about his progress, FANTASTIC. All the very best and hope to see you all very soon. Nora

I miss you loads! I'm really really glad that you are feeling better. Hope we can meet up at one of the Strathclyde walks.
Your old pal,
Millie
I got a lump in my throat reading that. I miss Milly a lot, she is just adorable.
Thanks for all the well wishes for Casper, again they are always appreciated.
His leg is doing quite well and I am pleased with his progress so far. I had a scare with him yesterday as he screamed while out running and came back to me whimpering, looking all shakey. I bundled him in the car and took him to the vets presuming he had done something to his leg, but turns out he had a sore mouth and neck. I think he ran into another dog, but I'm not 100% sure. It's nothing serious and he is back to normal today, so I was pretty relieved to say the least.
i'm hoping to make it along to more events this year, so will hopefully see some of you at some point! Thanks again for your replies, Jane
