I think that Libby is a fantastic name for her. She's a beautiful girl now just imagine how stunning she'll be in a few weeks with all your love and attention.
Well done for taking her at such short notice...and looking forward to more pictures.

Thanks for asking Jenny. It's nice of you to think of Libby when you have so much going on with Ziggy.
Libby has settled in well. She has wet the floor once since she arrived (but it was my fault as I went in the shower without letting her out first) and I have managed to leave her for the maximum four hours that I leave Casper for and she has coped fine. In fact, like Casper I know I could leave her longer, but I just don't like to. She has a little cry when I initially close the front door but by the time I get Aedan in the car she has stopped and Casper and her are back in their beds snoozing.
I have never met a dog who could run, jump and leap on laminate and wooden flooring like she can. If she is getting up for something to eat or drink she doesn't just plod through to the kitchen like Casper does, she will trot through wagging her tail, and on her way back she will leap from the hall into the livingroom and skid into her bed. She trots everywhere, and is like a spring she is so bouncy. I haven't experienced anything quite like her before! I have to close the hall door while I am getting my shoes and coat on as she is so excited about going out that she can knock us over. She is very playful and is taking full advantage of all Caspers toys, which he seems a bit bewildered about, I don't think he understands what the fuss is about
She seems really happy, but desperate for some love, she chatters and nudges when we are stroking her and our cuddles never seem enough for her, she always wants more. Casper is a bit confused at the moment I think, or in shock. People on this forum who have met Casper might not believe me but Casper is actually calm compared to her (in the house anyway!) Casper keeps most of his energy for out on walks whereas Libby seems to be more confident in the house and is so happy sometimes she can't seem to contain her excitment. Don't get me wrong, she is a typical lazy greyhound who sleeps most of the day but when she is up and about, even if it's just for a drink she does everything with a bounce! Outside she is loving the long walks and is getting fitter, but is very wary of strangers, especially men and any loud noises - loud traffic, trains etc seem to spook her a bit. She has on a couple of occasions tried her best to get away and would slip her collar if I wasn't careful.
As I said, she trots everywhere in the house and that can be pretty loud on the wooden floors, but when it comes to stealing food she is like a ninja. The other morning I poured my cereal and milk into my bowl, turned to get a spoon, turned back and she was up on her hind legs hoovering up my breakfast! I didn't even know she was there!
She is a cheeky girl, with such character already after just a week. Although she is quite tall, she is very delicate and she has a really pretty, fine featured face - she's just lovely
I, of course, have fallen for her already and would LOVE to keep her but I don't think I will ever be able to keep a GAL dog We want to move to Australia in a few years time and I think the cost of moving two dogs over would give Michael a heart attack
I hope she gets a good home soon, she's a cheeky madam with a lot of love to give. I'll keep you all posted on how she's getting on.

I should have also mentioned how she has overcome her fear of Michael. Initially she was terrified of him and would not move from her bed when he was in the house but with some patience and a lot of hotdogs she is now happy to be in his company and greets him with bounce and a wag when he comes in from work I have never experienced a dog with a fear of men and it is hearbreaking to see. Even though she is now fine with Michael, after a week of my Dad helping me in the garden she will still not come near him and no amount of treats will coax her near. I think she feels safer in the house and maybe outside she is less confident so maybe not as willing to approach my Dad or maybe its because he smokes Anyway, I just thought I'd add that....

I love to hear stories of a happy dog! She's obviously loving her new life - well done Jane for your infinite patience and understanding. Her behaviour makes me laugh - more stories please
I'm glad she's settling in so well. She looked so shy in the first pics you posted its good to hear about her tearing about the house and being so cheeky!

If you could see me stressing out in the morning trying to get my 3 year old son, my friends 1 year old daughter and two excited dogs out of the house to get Aedan to playgroup on time you maybe wouldn't say "infinite patience"! I run around mad trying to get coats, shoes, buggies, leads, harnesses etc all ready and some mornings I am nearly pulling my hair out when all four "children" go off in different directions when I am trying to get them out the door!

Being honest though you wouldnt be without all the chaos - you love it really
Some days I think I must be mad, some days I know I am mad, but everyday I know that I wouldn't change things for the world. You're right Siouxsie, I love the chaos really...I think

Here are some more pictures of the beautiful Libby. They are not the best pictures, so I will try and get some more later and will write a wee update on her when I get a second. You can see her hair is starting to grow back nicely

Wow! That's a vast improvement. Do you do anything special or is it just that she's finally getting the love, attention and comfy beds that she deserves?
Hiya abit new to this forum, but I have been qiute taken by this lovely girl!! Very like my girl, especially the baldy bums!! Anyway hows Libby getting on?
Whatever your doing with her is certainly working...she looks so much better after some special TLC, can't wait to hear lots more about her as her character comes out more
It's taken me long enough, but here are some recent pictures of Libby and a wee update on how she's getting on...
Libby is doing great. She is a happy, excitable wee soul and I can't believe how far she has come since she arrived. She still has her moments when she is unsure, but generally she is just happy all the time and she just seems so pleased to be here. She is excited when I come home, excited when she is fed, excited when I put my jacket on, excited when I get the leads out, excited when she gets cuddled and just generally happy to be here! She chatters and wags happily a lot!
She is scared of groups of people, and still sometimes wants to go in the other direction when we pass people on our walks, but I can see her improving slowly.
She seems to get on well with other dogs, and greets them happily, however if there is a dog further away she sometimes barks. She will also bark at Casper sometimes when he is off the lead and is off doing his own thing, she pulls towards him as though she wants to be beside him.
A few times in the past few week she has wet Caspers bed - once when he was in it, much to Caspers horror! She is house trained and cries to be let out, or gives me 'the stare', so I think it must be some sort of marking thing or maybe an accident the first time and the smell is still there even though the bed has been washed? Whatever the reason, I will wait and see if she does it again and maybe phone carole for some advice or ask you guys!
Casper and her get on great. Now that Libby has lost interest in the rabbit and guinea pigs in the garden Casper and her chase each other, mouthing and pawing at each other. In the house they sometimes have a play fight too, but I have never seen them cuddle up together in the same bed, which is quite unlike Casper as he's usually trying to squeeze in for cuddles at every opportunity. They eat and drink happily out the same bowl and its hilarious to watch when they get a rawhide treat each. They hardly get any eating done as they both attempt to steal the others chew
She is a wee sweetheart, she still needs some confidence building but overall she is just a lovely dog, a pleasure to have around. I think because she is so eager and happy to be here, it makes it all the more rewarding for me

That's really great news Jane. She sounds like quite a character! Has there been any interest in her yet for a forever home or are you waiting until she's more settled? As for the peeing, Tigerlily peed in Indiana's bed at first and then he retaliated. It took a few weeks before there were no accidents on either dog's part but now there are no issues.
Indiana, about her forever home - Dave is the man for that job, I just look after her until he phones to tell me he's got a home for her! (She's happy here though Dave, no hurry )
